Haitang flower

During this may holiday, I went to Nanjing Mochou lake to enjoy the haitang flower with my classmates in the afternoon. We met each other at the north gate. By the way, we also saw the beautiful views of this park. Sky was making jokes on Denis all the times. That was a sunny day, everyone was in a good mood. It’s like the 10-A’s special spring out.
Haitang flower is a very beautiful flower. The professional name of this flower is Malus spectabilis. It was grown in north east, and Chinese believe that it represents tender and beautiful. There are many kinds of haitang flowers in the garden. Most of them grow in china. The parks were fall of haitang flower. My classmates and I all like it. We do not have many chances to enjoy flower when we have classes. We even do not know that there are many different kinds of Haitang flowers. When we were walking in the park, we all enjoy it very much.
Haitang is a kind of tree like apple tree. The flowers of them are very beautiful. And also it is a kind of fruit like apple. It’s very delicious. I think many people will like this beautiful and tasty plant. Although the flowers looked great, I am not the expert of plants. I felt boring, but 10-A won’t let us feel boring. We took a lot of funny photos. King and Erik did a lot of funny pose. It was not a good way to say that everyone enjoyed the plants, but everyone enjoyed the short trip.

volunteer work

I like play pool very much. I often play pool in Jufeng pool club. After every round, we need the waiter to help us to organize the balls. But if the waiters are too busy to organize the balls, we often organize the balls by ourselves. Most of us can organize the balls very quickly, almost as fast as the waiters., but some new players cannot. This term, I go to the pool club to work as a volunteer. I go there every Friday night with 10-D Cindy. We usually help them to do some cleaning work and organize the balls. Sometimes some people go there by themselves. They always play with themselves. It’s very boring. So sometimes they want the waiter to play with them. I’m very pleasure that if they play with me, because I like to play pool with different people and I’m glad to play the free pool.
Sometimes some people are not so good at pool but they are very interesting in playing it. When I play with them. I can teach them how to play pool very well and help them to practice. It's always can make them to play longer so they need to pay more money.
I think it is very good for me to work as a voluntee there because I like play pool and when I work as a volunteer I can practice my pool skill. I hope I can play pool better in the future and can have a good job in the future.

christian church

On December 24th, I went to Mochou road Christian church with Avery in the afternoon.
The inner part of the church looks old but the outside looks very beautiful. It has long wooden chair and a big title of “ Jesus loves you”. Because that is the day before Christmas day, there are a lot people there. A lot of people sang the Christmas song there, and the clergyman had a speech about Jesus’ birth in English. He looks kind and politely. That’s very interesting. We listened very carefully and we learn a lot of things that we can’t study in the class.
There are not many Chinese go to church. Most of Chinese don’t believe Jesus. Chinese don’t believe Jesus make every thing in the word. Only some old Chinese believe that there are goats in the word. But I think it is not good. If people only believe there are goats in the word. They will hopeless and afraid of every thing. But the people believe Jesus can have more hope about there own life. If they got some troubles, they may think that Jesus can help them. If they do some right things, and also if they do something bad they think Jesus will punish them. It is just like other believes.
I learnt a lot today. Although I don’t believe Jesus, I think that is a good way to learn western culture by go to the church. It’s a very valuable experience for me!

taming of the shrew

I went to see the first drama, taming of the shrew in GCA. It was acted by GCA students, even some of the grade 10 students. I never heard this show before; I only know that it was a comedy written by William Shakespeare. The play begins with a framing device, a drunken tinker named Sly is tricked into thinking he is a nobleman by a mischievous Lord. The main plot depicts the courting of Petruchio, a gentleman of Verona, and Katherina, the headstrong, obdurate, and eponymous shrew. She is not willing to be tender, but petruchio uses his way to let Katherina become a elegant woman. Everyone was so surprised because she was a rude woman before.
The show was awesome, Fan was acting Petruchio, the plot of he and Katherina was funny. On the first night of their marriage, Petruchio was tricking Katherina, he made Katherina cannot sleep all night, that made Katherina mad and felt helpless.Cherry in grade 12 acted Katherina’s emotion well. Richard in 10-B looks cute, even he is not the main character. He looks like he is the real character in the drama. Katherina’s sister is unique, she looked silly. She was wearing pink and always brought a mirror, compare to Katherina, they are so different from each other.
I heard something about last year their drama Romeo and Juliet. I think they also did a great job this year, and luckily, we don’t even need to fly to another country to see the William Shakespeare’s drama.

Ancient Chinese jade exhibition

On March 15, 2009, I went to Nanjing museum with Cindy at 2 p.m. It is an official museum with many different galleries. Cindy was more interested in “The Year of Ox, 2009” instead of Ancient Chinese Jade Exhibition, so we went to different galleries. The exhibition includes the development of jade from the Neolithic Age to the Zhou Dynasty. In the ancient times, jade is the symbol of nobles, because jade pendants were really expensive. That’s why I always think jade can represent china.
Chinese had been using jade for thousands year. People use jade to make sculpture and decoration. I saw money, necklaces, and other funerary stuff made of jade in the exhibition. The jade seemed to be old, but still meticulous.
The Jade Suite Threaded with Silver gave me a strong impression. That cloth made by thousands of processing pieces of jade. They used threads of silver to connect the jade. They made this kind of clothes is because they saw jade as sacred stuff. They thought that if they wear this kind of cloth after them dead, their body won't decay, likes the Egyptian mummy. Actually, it won't be.
Whenever before or now, jade is always the symbol of China. It represents Chinese history and culture. I am proud of being a person of the country that owned jade

Having meals in western restaurant

I went to1912 to have lunch with Cindy on March 15th. This restaurant is Round Table Steak House. We went there at 12:30, there were already many people eating there. Cindy and I both played a game called” Knight of the round”, so we decided to go to that restaurant.
We sat in large and tall chairs, let me thought of the meals with Knights, they use forks elegantly. It was warm there, I felt really comfortable. Red is the main color of this restaurant, and it has beautiful roof. I heard music as well, but Cindy told me then, that was singing by a man. His voice was amazing, and his French pronunciation was great. That’s a very romantic place. We ordered Fillet steak. It is the most popular and classic one. The steak was tender and tasted nice, with a little blood. Cindy was crazy about cut the steak because the steak was very thick. Then I helped her to cut the steak in small pieces within a very short time. Cesar salad was fresh with sweet sauce and the ham was very delicious. Cindy ordered Fruit salad instead, because she didn’t want to get fat. Our dessert were Fruit Ice-cream with caramel around it. It was icy and nice.
This restaurant was delicious. It’s a real western restaurant. The waiters here were polite and handsome. They wore very grandee suits. There was also some other GCA students from 10-F eating there. This is a nice place for lovers and businessman. That was a really enjoyable lunch!

club

this hoilday i join the game club. i blay psp with joy cloud john together online. we play different games torether. comunicate how to play batter. i love this club. we all like games but we aften have no chance to comunate or play with a lot of our classmats game is also a good way to make us relax. and game can also make you smart. game club is a very good way. when you try to relax youself you also join the club. that's so nice. i love this club!

i always play basketball in the afternoon.

basketball is very good for my health.because in spring festival i always eat a lot but never do any sports. i become fatter and fatter.i need do sports to lose weight and sports also let me fell very comfortable.i always play basketball in the university or in school with my classmate.

volunteer

Today I went to Nanjing Brain Hospital with my girlfriend and our classmates in middle school to be the volunteers. There are many children have some problems with their brain and live in the hospital. They don't have many friends and always feel lonely. We need to play with them and try our best to make them happy.My girlfriend and I helped a little girl. She seems to be about 10 years old. She got autism so she seldom talks to others. First, we played games with her. My girlfriend took out two bars of chocolate. We played some little games, and the winner can eat the chocolate. At first the girl only laughed but never talked. Then I take out a paper, the girl, my girlfriend and I drew pictures on it. She is very clever and we drew some very cute pictures. She began to say a little word to us. Then Children played game together. All of the children like us very much. At last I gave the girl a bar of chocolate as a present. She is so happy and she wants us can always go there to play with her. They are the kids who got some problems with their mind, I felt so sad about that. We are the children who have good environment and study in the school, but they are different, and treated differently from others.I think this volunteer work is very meaningful for us and also good for the person who needs our help. They are all very lovely and kind.We hope the can get out of the hospital earlier!

Christmas dinner with classmates

We went to have dinner with 3 students from Grade 12 on the twentieth of December. The western restaurant was called Tacos. It was a Mexican food restaurant. We also had about 23 students from our class. At half past five, we arrived there and started to order the food we wanted. There are many special dishes I’ve never seen before. The tacos is the most popular food, many of my classmates ordered that. Not only the Mexican food, there are also some other countries’ food. Denise ordered Korean dish. And I ordered a pizza to eat. Because there was too much food to cook, we waited for a long time. During that time, I watched movies with William on his laptop. The others were chatting with each other happily while waiting. After about 40 minutes, the waitress gave me my pizza. It was too small that I did not feel full at all after eating it. I ate some rice from Avery’s plate to fill my stomach. When we finish eating, I sat there and watched movies again. I think that Tacos is great, it’s not too expensive, just the prize we can afford. At about 7 o’clock, we decided to leave the restaurant. I went to KTV with Sky, Seven, Elva, Matt and so on. We spent 3 hours singing to celebrate the coming Christmas Day. I did not go home until 11 o’clock. That was my Christmas dinner with my classmates this year, and I enjoyed it very much. I hope to have a better Christmas meal next year!
